No elephants or tigers, but a zoo, nonetheless….

August 22, 2006

With a free Monday for my mom, Ashley, me and Taylor, we decided to make the most of the nice weather and venture out to the little-known Santa Ana Zoo.  I was sure they would have a small collection of the standard zoo favorites – giraffes, tigers, hippos, elephants, and gorillas.  On the way to the zoo, I was telling Taylor all about the animals we were going to see…

The good news is that with adult admission being only $6, you really don’t feel that gypped, when you learn that it’s really a glorified petting zoo with a few monkeys and a rescued bald-eagle that accompany the pigs, goats, sheep and one cow.

We all did enjoy the train ride around the farm animal exhibit, hosted by a very cute retired conductor!

However, we all had a great time, and at 16 months, Taylor was none-the-wiser.  Maybe when she’s two, we’ll try the impressive LA or San Diego Zoo!!

These boots were made for walkin…

Any mother of a little girl will tell you that buying clothes for your daugther is always fun… Steal of the week are the cutest darn hot-pink-cowgirl-boots available at Target! I bought them in two sizes, so when she out-grows the first pair, we’ll have a back-up ready to go!

Enjoy Taylor’s cute chubby legs in her (okay, my) new favorite shoes!!

Our little one!

A nice benefit of owning an ultrasound machine, is you really can see how much your baby is changing as she grows in utero!

Macy is now 17 weeks gestation and is about 5 inches (head to bottom) and probably around 8oz!

She’s a little skinny, but we think she is beautiful!

over-the-what??

Kim, Dave & cake!

Well, it has happened!! Dave is officially an old man!  last weekend we celebrated his surprise 40th birthday party with a blind-wine-tasting party at our house on Saturday night!  Amazingly, we pulled off a surprise and had 30 friends waiting at our home to raz him about being over-the-hill!!

As they say, 40 is the new 30, so really we can do this all over again in another ten years, because I guess that makes 50 the new 40!

Happy birthday, Dave and thank you to all our friends and family who were here to celebrate with us! Read the rest of this entry ?
